We open valve radios, transistor radios and hi-fi tuners from several decades of Swiss and European production. If a set is worth keeping, we find a way. Diagnosis usually takes one to two hours, after which you receive a written quote. Declining costs nothing.

Capacitors dried out after decades, making the power supply whistle. Snapped dial cords that leave station tuning dead. Burnt-out valve heaters. Dry solder joints at the volume control. Corroded FM tuner contacts. On transistor sets: leaked battery compartments, failed output stages and corroded aerials.

A flat CHF 80 for the first hour of bench time. That covers opening the set, visual inspection, voltage and signal measurements, and narrowing down the fault. You then get a quote at the CHF 120 hourly rate plus materials. If you decline, you pay only for the diagnosis and take the set back unchanged.

No purely cosmetic cabinet work (lacquering, veneering, polishing); we work with specialist joiners for that and are glad to put you in touch. No repairs on sets whose spare parts can no longer be sourced. We tell you that openly, which saves you the diagnostic cost.

Do not open it yourself: even days after being unplugged, valve radios still hold lethal voltages on their capacitors. Pull the plug, pack it well, bring it in or send it by post (insured). If you have the circuit diagram or service manual, include it: it saves us research and saves you money.
